TrackPlanning.com NY Signal drawn |
The two diesels that brought the train to
Itzehoe
are uncoupled and shunted to another track. We start towards the consist of passenger cars. The locomotive will now be coupled to the train. Frank prepares for departure. We approach a tight curve with a 100 kph speed
limit. The turn doesn't LOOK that sharp, but the sound of
flanges is clearly heard as we move through it. Passing through farmlands once again. Cement and iron weights apply tension to the
catenary wires. Green signals clear our way into Hamburg. The landscape is decidedly less rural now. Our speed is slowed as we enter Hamburg proper. The Hamburg Tower appears on the right as an ICE
approaches on the left. We pass
an ICE train. Entering Hamburg, looking right. Entering Hamburg, looking left. Now
we are in the throat leading to Hamburg Hauptbahnhof. Approaching Hamburg
Hauptbahnhof. The end of a great trip! Sites from the
U-Bahn on the way back to the car. |
